Hell no...I am to old and fat...to be climbing a tree. Although the guy climbing it looked to be much bigger than me, and about the same age. Oh, well, I dont do this as a profession, so best to let the pro's do it.
That is the people I paid to take it down. The tree was a big red oak, hated to lose it, but it was damaged and dying and too close to the house to let stay for much longer.

I need to do something with the trunk, it is probably 20-24 inches at the base and about 40 feet long, very straight. Was thinking of either selling it or getting a portable sawmill in to cut into lumber.

The trunk is actually 32 inches at the base, right where the cut it at the ground is like 48 inches.

I am cutting the limbs up for firewood. It is making quite a pile just from those. I had cut down a smaller tree earlier last week-end and my son finished cutting and splitting it, we ended up with a lot just from that tree. This is going to make a low cost natural gas winter.
